From the 'Ungrateful' Files

Syndicated columnist Mona Charen, as reprinted in the DH:

What will George W. Bush be remembered for? If, as Clare Boothe Luce argued, every president gets just one sentence in the history books, then President Bush’s will certainly concern the war on terror and Iraq. His historical reputation will wax or wane based entirely on how well Iraq does in the coming decades. That’s the ballgame for Bush, historically speaking. And yet, as recent news about student test scores reminds us, a poignant aspect of this president’s two terms is his unrequited love for blacks and other minorities.

Say what? Is she kidding? No? You mean she's seriously claiming that Bush has love for people of color? WTF?

Oh, and in case you thought her opening was bad, check out how she concludes the column:

...the total contempt shown by the African-American community toward this president is a staggering injustice.

Yeah - the 'staggering injustice' of the Bush years is clearly how ungrateful African-Americans were for - what does Ms. Charen cite? - No Child Left Behind, AIDS funding for African and faith-based initiatives. Certainly it couldn't be Iraq, the War on Terra', the rapid expansion of the police state, massive deregulation of financial markets (with all the attendant consequences), letting energy companies develop energy policy, or any number of other things. Nope. The 'staggering injustice' of the Bush years is that black people aren't grateful enough. Jesus Fucking Christ, this is getting old.

I can't believe people pay her for this. And I can't believe Hering ran such racist drivel.

I want to puke.

[Hate] Sometimes I think I See the World A Little Differently...

For example, this letter, as published in the Lebanon Express:

To the editor:

We as a nation are allowing the far left liberals and media newspapers to destroy our nation from within. History has shown that the allowance of bilingual, multilingual and biculture societies cannot survive the conflict and antagonism of two or more competing languages or cultures.

The push today in our country is for multiculturalism with the idea of immigrants to maintain their culture and celebrate diversity instead of unity. We have stood by while these ideas are taking root.

We are allowing the promotion of dual citizenship, the lack of enforcement of our federal laws, the abuse of our health and welfare system and then allow the illegals to try to dictate what we should do for them.

I'm asking why do we allow this? Why do we have to push one for English? English should be the language of our nation, period. What people speak in their home is their business.

The illegals have no rights to demand anything from us. Secure the borders first then fine every employer who hires any illegals. Have states enforce the federal laws we have on this issue, then if our legislators in power now won't enforce the laws we can vote them out of office.

I think it's time for the American people to take control of our country. God bless America.

See what I mean? I know I'm angry and all, but still. Someone needs to take a breather. That much hating in such a short time can be exhausting.

Oh, and someone from Lebanon needs to publicly repudiate those statements. I'm sure Lebanon doesn't want to be known as a haven for white supremacists, does it?

Professional-Quality Hating

From a local news station website in Denver, something so stupid I can't even be mad. I am just shaking my head in wonder:

DENVER -- A Dacono, Colo. councilwoman resigned this week over what some branded a racist e-mail, but Sandra Tucker said she won't apologize for posting it.

In the e-mail, Tucker, 61, said that being a Democrat is worse than "being a black disabled one-armed drug-addicted Jewish queer" who has a "Mexican boyfriend."

She posted the e-mail on a local Web site and said she thought it was funny.

"I'm sick and tired of all of this political correctness," Tucker told The Denver Post. "I'm not going to apologize if you don't have a sense of humor."

For the record, the person who sent this to me (thanks CM) labeled it a "bat-shit crazy email" and I think I agree.

It is racist - and sexist, and heterosexist, and ableist, and just full of hate and discrimination in general.

Because, you know, those things are funny.
