Perhaps not with that title. But I think it could fly. Julie Lindquist, a rhetoric scholar, published a book called A Place to Stand: Politics and Persuasion in a Working-Class Bar. I haven't read it, but I imagine race and gender are discussed quite a bit in there.

So what about "A Cut In: Race and Rhetoric, Beauty and Barbershops.
