CARES drops recall against Shimmin

I just got a rather short email saying CARES has dropped their recall effort against Debi Shimmin.

Anyone hear anything about this?

For example, is the recall still on against Wineteer and Alexander?

That is quite embarrassing for CARES. Maybe they jumped the gun a bit? I heard their recall is still a go on the other two, for now.

There is a DH story on this here.

I disagree with Anon 9:30.

There is nothing wrong with admitting that you made a mistake, or acted too quickly, or whatever the reason CARES stopped the recall.

Something or possibly someone, caused them reconsider the decision to recall Debi and they changed their minds. There is no embarrassment in that.

What would be embarrassing is to know that you made an incorrect decision and failed to admit it.

When Debi made a mistake and then admitted it and fixed it CARES used that as one of the reasons for their recall??

Also when recalling someone don't you think that it should be well thought out and perhaps a last resort as it may put emotional stress on the person being recalled for no reason?? I think they were reckless with their power (or the power they think they have)

CARES must have a darn good reason for un-recalling Debi.
I suspect she initiated contact with them to try to change that upcoming strike on her abilities in public service.
I just hope they weren't duped by her nice-ness and good intentions.
I did not know last night that she was off the proverbial hook.
I did see that she seemed to really be trying to follow the rules and policies and also trying to get Josh to do the same thing (which at the time I took to be because she was on notice).
However, she has hovered on the side of good Board member behavior (following policies, rules, laws) before and then left it in favor of her feelings.
I hope it isn't temporary this time and that CARES didn't make a big mistake.

First of all it was Tre Kennedy who initiated the contact after many conversations with concerned citizens of our town who felt he was making a mistake.

Secondly, you say that you "hope that they weren't duped by her nice-ness and good intentions."

Aren't those qualities that we should look for and expect from our board members?

Good intentions and the ability to be nice are good, it's true.

However, they aren't a substitute for researching issues and refraining from putting the district in legal hot water.

I think that might be the point.

Some of the nicest people with good intentions, and many people who loved them personally, have caused some of the worst damage in history.
